Happy Hanukkah to those who celebrate it!

I know it technically started a few nights ago, but Happy Hanukkah anyway.

Now, this picture is actually from a while ago, but I never posted it:

They're like Johnny and Dallas oyster crackers!

This should all make sense...

Okay, so sweet potatoes are for sweet potato casserole, my absolute favorite Thanksgiving dish, and Thanksgiving is in the fall, and apples are a fall fruit, and guess who's fruit is an apple? Dallas Winston, of course.

Oh, why do I have 14 sweet potatoes on my kitchen counter? I'm making sweet potato casserole for 24.

The Gang's All Here!

Yes! They are! I have completed my collection of cacti! I have seven, and the greaser gang is complete!

Ah yes, here we go:
In the very back, the aloe plant: Darry, he doesn't stand for this ;) no he's the big one watching over them all.

On his left in the terracotta pot, tall with plastic knives in it: Sodapop, he's the handsome one

The one to to the left of Darry, in the pink pot: Steve...he's a little crooked, like his teeth

The fuzzy one, to the left of Steve: Ponyboy! I don't know I just thought he was that one... (Samantha and I did this in the morning, by the way)

The one between Ponyboy and Sodapop, the one with the pink on top: Two-Bit, he's a colorful character

Now, the two in the front...
The spiky one is OBVIOUSLY Dallas...and the cute little one is little Johnnycake.

Here's what's growing on around here...

get it? I love puns...

What I wanted to do was update you guys on literally, what's growing around here.

my papaya tree

my pineapple

my cactus jungle (I had to move them all outside, they got so big! I also got another one...)

another little plant

and the rose bush.

An interesting night activity...

The greasers had a rumble at night, and there was a fire in the background...

So last night I burnt paper! It was actually for a school project I'm doing...

Now children, do not play with fire! I had adult supervision while I was doing this, and if worse came to worse, I was by the pool...

A Little Soda Problem...

A friend of mine's brother put a can of soda in the freezer...here's what happened.

Wednesday, November 20, 2013

Grapefruit..just no.

Yeah, I tried grapefruit again this morning (Darry's fruit of the month!) and it was gross. It smelled awfully nice, but it tasted just awful.

Miscellaneous Weekend Fun...

My Sunday was pretty much running errands, but it was a lot of fun!

This is my newest cactus plant...I call it...Johnny.
(I have 6 now, one more and I'll be able to rename them after the gang!)

A mushroom tree

My papaya tree

Now this is what you call a Passion Flower. I discovered it...wait for it...at...Lowe's.

Oh and I had green tea from Starbucks! I don't go to Starbucks too often...

Pineapple Planting...

Since Steve's fruit is a pineapple, and this post is about pineapple, why don't we dedicate this post to him?

Well here goes:
I bought a pineapple yesterday, and I planted it! (I have yet to cut and eat the actual fruit)

It weighed 4 pounds 12 ounces...is that a lot?

Basically, you twist off the top and pull of some of the leaves around the bottom until you see the roots. This is the actual part that you plant.

voilà!

(ignore my sock-and-flip-flop-feet...)

Saturday Trip to the Grocery Store...

Not very Outsidersy right? (That word credit goes to Sam, by the way) Well, leave it to me to make it!

Exhibit A: we have the mighty pineapple, aka Steve

Exhibit B: we have the humble asparagus, which I haven't eaten, and I'm pretty sure a greaser wouldn't either.

Exhibit C: is it fair to say that the audacious (VOCAB WORD, to all of you who get what it means) artichoke reminds me of Sodapop? I'm not really sure why, but it does. Again, I haven't eaten one, and again, pretty sure greasers wouldn't either.

Exhibit D: the chocolate cake. Not much to say about this one ;)

Exhibit E: this is just a disgrace to the name.

Another just text post...

This has just been a really mixed up interesting crazy week so I'll hopefully give you some super great posts this weekend...might not be able to post on Friday though... So today I'll just post a few of my favorite old pictures to make up for it, so this won't end up being a just text post! Good idea?

Macaroons

Last week it was a cereal appreciation post, this week it's macaroons. I mean, have you ever tasted one? They are just lovely! I think that if someone gave me a box of macaroons for a present I would love them forever and ever and ever... Maybe I'll get you a picture of a macaroon tomorrow...

Monday morning baking?

So Monday morning before school I baked banana bread! BEFORE SCHOOL! That's a nice accomplishment, if you ask me. Anyway, it made me think of Soda baking chocolate cake right before bed... my own version! Would-be greaser girl bakes banana bread before school (that's an alliteration, my English teachers would be proud...). Greaser guy cooks chocolate cake concluding the day. (AH YES! MY TEACHERS WOULD BE SO PROUD OF ME!)

Here's the final product:

Unfortunately, SOMEONE-you know who you are! I don't, but you do!- snagged a small slice (another alliteration! I'm on a ROLL today!) before I could snap a picture.

This weekend is almost Gone With The Wind...

I figured it was time for me to watch this...

Gone With The Wind

Scarlett O'Hara (played by Vivien Leigh) wearing an enormous dress

More fancy southern ladies wearing fancy southern lady dresses

If you can't read this, it says,
"Here in this pretty world Gallantry took its last bow."

Who else do I know who's gallant?

So if you haven't read this book or seen the movie, you definitely should! I haven't read the book or finished the movie yet, but I plan to do both. It's a great story!

Super awesome picture made by my darling Samantha

Finally, some real good stuff!

After a week of haphazard random posts, here is a real treat (literally!)!

If you can't see under the mountains of ice cream, it's chocolate cake. Enough said.

Cereal Appreciation Post

Yes, this post is about appreciating cereal. Although they never really mentioned cereal in The Outsiders, I thought it would be a good thing to post about. I have no pictures, but I would like to say that at the moment I have 5 boxes of cereal in my house. So there. I love cereal.

Happy Late Birthday Ralph Macchio and Happy Birthday Tim Shepard!

The title says it all... Yesterday was Ralph Macchio's birthday... and today is Tim Shepard's birthday...

credits go to Sam for this!!!

No Comment Necessary

Pretty self-explanatory, right?

By the way...
Tim Shepard's birthday is in 2 days (11/5)
&
Dallas's birthday is in less than one week!!!! (11/9)

Why all the y?

On the beach, I found so many pieces of coral that were shaped like y's!

These are just a few of them... And wait for it...

This has to do with the Outsiders because:

There are y's in:
PonYboY
CherrY
DallY
JohnnY
DarrY

Y is for yellow, which can be compared to gold

A perfect beach day

Today was an absolutely GORGEOUS beach day- here are some of my findings

And how does this relate to the fabulous Outsiders?

This shell almost looks as if there's a sunrise/sunset on it! The very, very bottom is orange, so that's like the sun, and it looks like there are rays coming off of it!
